If you haven’t read Steven Pressfield’s book – The War of Art – you need to. Buy it and read it immediately. It speaks about the Resistance – our inner battle preventing us from doing the work we are called to do. It wants us to quiet down, fall in line, and not attract attention. It wants to distract us. It wants to make us feel safe with our own mediocrity.

The Resistance can be subtle. It doesn’t just show up to make us fail at something. Failing means trying. It shows up BEFORE we even try and prevents us from doing so.

All this is to say the Resistance is pretty loud right now.

The Danger Brigade! comie co-written by me and drawn by the very talented Metro Catpiss (it’s only ME that knows his real name and secret identity – so he better not piss me off ever). It’s the story of their lack of adventure, excitement, and productivity! Lack of adventure and excitement? That’s so Jedi!

Side note – do you think Alfred ever gets upset with Bruce and thinks “That does it, I’m doin’ it. I’m tellin’ everyone I know. He can shut his OWN batcave door… so what if everyone finds out?”

Here’s a preview from a new comic project I’m working on. It’s much different from Armstrong and way more challenging. At least it means I’m growing… I think. It’s a comic that’s kind of like Armstrong in the fact that it’s been milling around in my head for about a year and half. I’ve grown tired of it collecting dust so I’ve decided to make it a reality.

Also – I listen to a TON of music when I write or draw. I see these scenes in my head like parts of a movie so I end up being drawn to certain styles of music while I work. For this project, I’ve been rockin’ a ton of Michael Giacchino’s stuff from LOST.

I like that I can draw birds and call it research.

What’re you up to?

Research.

Researchin’ what?

How to, um………. how to draw a bird.

…and now, in celebration of Thanksgiving, I’m gonna go watch Manos: The Hands of Fate!

I didn’t realize his eyes were diamond shaped until now.

Nothing lets me know I suck more than starting a new project. The only thing I can do is to keep working through it.
